Drafting a Plan

The team has all but ruled out trading up or down in the first round. The plan is to stay at No. 5 and take the best player that falls to that spot. The team is hoping WR Mike Williams is available when its turn comes, but the team will gladly take a RB or WR Braylon Edwards. The team continues to suggest it may even take a QB, should Alex Smith or Aaron Rodgers fall. . . .

The team has 12 picks overall, including two picks in the third, fifth and sixth rounds, and three in the seventh. There's a good chance the team will trade some of those picks to acquire more picks early in the draft. The team desperately wants to add a RB who can eventually replace Michael Pittman as the feature back, and it needs to add depth and future starters along the offensive front. To achieve that objective, the team will probably need to acquire more picks in the first three rounds.
